Who We Are
A focused AI engineering firm working with Malaysian organisations on challenges that require careful design — not just a model dropped into production.

Structured Thinking
Cortexium started with a straightforward observation: most organisations trying to adopt AI don't need more algorithms. They need someone to help them think clearly about the problem first.
Founded in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, we draw on experience across analytics engineering, privacy-preserving machine learning, and applied research. Our work spans sectors where data sensitivity matters — healthcare networks, financial services, and large enterprises with distributed operations.
We don't pitch broad AI transformations. We define a specific technical goal, build toward it with discipline, and hand over work that your team can actually maintain and build upon.
Our Mission
To make applied AI accessible to Malaysian organisations that want substance over spectacle — clear scopes, responsible data practices, and results worth measuring.
Our Approach
We treat every engagement like an architecture project — define constraints first, then design. We scope tightly, communicate throughout, and document thoroughly. The work reflects the blueprint.
Our Values
- Privacy and data integrity as a starting point, not an afterthought
- Honest scope assessments — we won't oversell what's feasible
- Technical handover that empowers your team
- Engagement lengths that reflect the actual work involved
Core Team
Ahmad Razif
Leads architecture design for federated systems and distributed model training. Background in applied ML research and enterprise data engineering.
Nurul Liyana
Specialises in conversation analytics and intent modelling for customer-facing AI platforms. Works across customer service, sales, and product teams.
Tan Wei Ling
Manages project scoping, client communication, and documentation across all engagements. Ensures timelines remain realistic and deliverables are clearly defined.
How We Work
Data Privacy by Design
Every engagement is scoped with data minimisation and access control in mind. We align with PDPA Malaysia requirements and global best practices for sensitive data handling.
Clear Scope Documentation
Before any work begins, we produce a written scope document that defines deliverables, timelines, and success criteria. Scope changes are discussed openly and in advance.
Version-Controlled Delivery
All code and configuration is tracked and handed over in a structured repository. This makes it straightforward for your team to maintain, update, or extend the work.
Reproducible Experiments
For ML work, we document model training conditions, data splits, and evaluation metrics so that results can be revisited, audited, or replicated at a later stage.
Regular Progress Updates
We provide structured weekly updates during each engagement. No surprises at the end — progress, blockers, and adjustments are communicated throughout.
Thorough Handover Documentation
Every project closes with technical documentation tailored to your team's level. We include architecture notes, operational guides, and recommendations for next steps.
AI Engineering in the Malaysian Context
Malaysia's private sector is moving thoughtfully toward data-driven operations. The organisations we work with have reached a point where they understand the technology exists — what they want is someone with the technical depth to help them apply it responsibly to their actual situation.
Our three service areas correspond to different stages of that journey. The AI PoC Sprint is for teams that want to test an idea before committing significant resources. Conversational Analytics applies to businesses already running chatbots or messaging platforms that want to extract insight from those interactions. Federated Learning addresses the more complex challenge of training AI models when data cannot be centralised — a requirement common in healthcare, finance, and multi-branch environments.
Being based in Petaling Jaya means we understand the regulatory environment, the practical infrastructure, and the operating culture of Malaysian businesses. That context shapes how we design and deliver our work.
Let's Discuss Your Project
Whether you have a defined brief or are still scoping, we're happy to have a straightforward conversation about what's possible.
